Reeves awarded by Demelza
Reeves have been awarded “Outstanding Corporate Supporter” in 2011 at the Demelza Business awards on Friday 16 March 2012.
This is the second year running that Reeves have been recognised at the Demelza Business Awards, having previously won the award for “Outstanding Fundraising Team” for 2010.
Reeves supported Demelza as their nominated charity for two years and have raised an impressive £17,000 for the charity.
The success of the fundraising efforts has been largely due to Team Jordan, a team of five who successfully completed a challenging 38 mile five day trek in Jordan in October 2010, and to the Reeves Skydivers, a 14 strong team of Reeves employees who completed a tandem skydive – jumping from a plane at 10,000 feet to free fall at 140mph in June 2011.
As well as the efforts of the two fundraising teams, Reeves employees have also raised money through Dress Down Days and raffles at corporate events, amongst other things.
Reeves’ Head of Charities Susan Robinson commented,
“Reeves have been proud to support Demelza for the last two years, and we are delighted that our fundraising efforts will make such a difference to the lives of young people and their families.
We pride ourselves on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and actively encourage staff to give back to their local community whenever they can. One of the Reeves skydivers, Phil Reynolds, attended the awards ceremony and was so enthused by the work of Demelza, he is now taking on the challenge of being the firm’s CSR representative in our Chatham Maritime office. As well as winning this award, Reeves were also finalists in the awards for “Outstanding Fundraising Team” and “Outstanding Individual Fundraiser” for the efforts of our skydiving team. We are extremely proud of them all for not only stepping way out of their comfort zone, but for their months of fundraising efforts beforehand, in and outside of work.”
